when i posted in blog that Hyderabad was Jallianwala Bagh on March 10, some friends objected to it. they demanded an 'yes' or 'no' answer, whether or not i oppose felling of statues. certainly, it pained me but we should lament more for felling of those great values enunciated by them. The dead never wanted their statues to be set up. they, perhaps, would have liked had we respected and followed the legacies they left behind. we chose an easier way -- set up statues and rever them.
